Mars Rover revisited

Like always I’ve taken ages to update my website. I’ve been learning more and more Unity3D and have been finally working on my own game for a while.

At some point I had too many ideas, started prototypes, and no real consistent project going on (other than, of course, my day job at Plumbee). After re-evaluating everything I started, I figured out that I should really transform my Mars Rover project into something I can release on it’s own.

For those who don’t know, I created this Mars Rover project for an event for Science4you in London. You can see some of the images here. It was a week long project and I had so much fun doing it. The fact is educational games seem to be something I really enjoy doing! It’s a very basic game to give kids the first steps into programming. You have your rover in Mars and you need to send a list of commands in order to get it to reach the objective. Kids really enjoyed it and I made me feel there’s something fun there to pursue.

On another event in a school I ended up showing it again, and it had the same success!

Meanwhile, I ended up showing the project to some friends who were inspired and wanted to join the team. So now I have a UI designer, a 3D artist and a 2D artist. I’m focusing on the game design and development and things are going well. I expect to be able to show more of it here. Meanwhile you can have a look on the new rover 😀
